Guitar Maestro Mr. Dee Harrington is AMAZING!! My only little disappointment with "Crime Scene Earth" is Mr. Harrington does not have one of his shredding instrumentals like "The Return" or "Gog & Magog". The project in whole shows what great musicianship the band has. Lynch, Kramer, Harrington, Johnson, London did a fabulous job putting out a great CD. As far as Richard Lynch's vocals are concerned, I think he pulled it through terrifically. The latest SAINT news is that Dee is putting together some instrumental tracks. Very Happy

Man, i'm loving this. Nice to hear them get a little heavier and this might move into my #1 Saint album passing In The Battle and TLFL. This is really hitting the music spot for me with it's nods to NWOBHM that is missing in Christian metal. Barren Cross really needs to come out of hibernation. I think they're the only other band with that influence that might still put out an album.

They should load some of the new songs on their myspace page.

I'd love to see it, but the new Mike Lee Michael Drive worries me though. Rattle Your Cage was borderline weird for me.

I finally got the chance to hear this and all I can say is WOW!! This is one heavy album, and While I love Josh's vocals, I think Rich does a great job vocally as well. Still need to score my own copy, but it's moved up in priority for me after listening to it.

Wow! You are one of the first I have seen give this a glowing review. Most seem to be put off by the lyrics and production.

I personally don't think it's bad, but don't think it's as good as In the Battle or The Mark. Love the Priest cover. "Half a times Measure" and the title track are excellent as well.

I like it a lot, which makes me interested in the back catalogue if people think thier old(er) material is better. (I do have The Mark)

I like it. I agree with Ult that The Mark and In The Battle were better, but I'm not loathe to listen to this one at all. What do people not like about the lyrics?

I rated it pretty high myself (probably 8/10). But I didn't get it until after hearing several people grumble about Josh only singing on a few tracks so I knew what to expect. Rich's vocals aren't bad at all, just not quite as refined as Josh. And I don't think they have ever had an amazing production, so I usually don't expect that.
But I would probably fall into fanboy category becuase IMO these guys can do no wrong.

BTW way to dig up an old thread TT, how long did it take you to find it?

Not long at all. The search function makes it easy. Smile

I don't have a problem with the lyrics--it's the vocals. Also, the rhythm guitars sound so tiny compared to previous Saint releases. I think "Crime Scene Earth" was a major step backwards for them. I'd rank this down there with "The Perfect Life" EP. Maybe they should have hired that singer to do these songs.......

Maybe I should take a listen to CSE back to back with The Mark or ITB, but I don't hear anything wrong with the production. The vocals seem to be a bit low in the mix, but not so much that it bugs me.

I'm easy to please on production issues, though. It has to be really bad before I complain. The songs are great IMO.

I'm not usually a stickler for production, either. Most of you know that by now. But, sometimes some things just grate on my nerves.

While I think this was a step back it's still a frequent player for me. Lyrically I don't have any problems with it.

Points:

1. Ult said this of a post by TallT:

I am "put off" by nothing concerning this album. The lyrics are typical SAINT IMO. The production is great IMO and lacks nothing. I like this a lot.

No......it is not their best album, as a couple are named, but this album is still great to listen to.

You can also include me in that "fanboy" category. Twisted Evil

SAINT is my favorite Christian band. Has been since the 1980s. Twisted Evil

I'm not fickle with my music.....or much of anything else, for that matter. cheers
