| I personally think all the vocals work. Its a shame some won't support this awesome band because their favorite vocalist isn't on all tracks. But to each their own. I'll continue loving this album. |

| I think I have an advantage in that Crime Scene Earth is my first Saint album. I had to preconceived thoughts on anything. Listening to it I had no idea there was a different vocalist. I'll have to pay attention next time. _________________ Hey kid! |

| | Follower of Jesus wrote: | I'm with alldat. I'm skipping this Saint record because I don't like the vocals. Heavier music is fine, but I love Josh's singing. Testament's stuff in the 80's was heavy as stink, but had good understandable vocals. Ditto with Metallica. It is entirely possible to get heavier without losing the vocals.
I also recognize that Saint isn't "mine". So if this is what they want to be, more power to 'em. So long as they understand that they are alienating a portion of their fan base. |
Dude, I understand where you're coming from, but my suggestion would still be to get this album. I'm sure you'll LOVE it after just a few listens! _________________ But when thou doest alms, let not thy left hand know what thy right hand doeth: That thine alms may be in secret: and thy Father which seeth in secret himself shall reward thee openly. | | Quote: | Who said they were "Going for a heavier sound" to please the fans? Perhaps they just wanted to go for a heavier sound just because they wanted to and for no other reason. |
I did not say that this was their motive! I was just pointing out that making changes at this point in their career isn't going to garner a huge surge of interest in the band. If it does, they will also hemorrage some of the old fans. Sain't motives could be pure as the driven snow--I was just pointing out the fact that some fans just aren't going to like a different direction. Look at Stryper with "Reborn". While it is a great modern rock record, the old fans did not like it for the most part. It wasn't what they wanted. Stryper did not pick up tons of younger fans, either. So, what is Mike & Co. doing now? Heading back more in a traditional Stryper sound. They know that if they alienate their original fan base with too drastic of a departure from sound that their audience dries up. No audience means either the end of a band--or the settle for playing to some hole in the wall dive with folks who never heard of them and don't really care to. Imagine if you left Ultimatum and they replaced you with Jamie Rowe. While some folks would like the new direction, a huge part of Ultimatum's audience would not appreciate the rapid change and would bail on future endeavors. Too much change alienates the fan base, and you lose your audience. That's all I'm sayin'!_________________ "I have no desire to speak w/other tongues, I already do enough damage w/the one I have!!" - Candlemass |

| I see what you are saying FoJ. I guess I just don't see this as a dramatic change for Saint. It's slightly heavier than their last album, which itself was slightly heavier than the In the Battle. To me it just seems to be the direction they were headed. It's still traditional heavy metal. It still has the "Saint/Priest-vibe". Rich's vocals certainly aren't bad and aren't that far removed from some of the lower register stuff Josh was doing on past albums. Oh well, to each his own, I guess. I like what I am hearing. I'm on my third listen today. Will be cranking it in the Mustang later today to get the real "metal" vibe going. _________________ |

| I'm kind of on the fence on getting this CD or not. To me, Josh's vocals are too big a part of Saint not to miss. No offense meant to Mr. Lynch. _________________ Long live rock n roll

| Three songs on an LP is what I consider guest vocals. |

| All I know is I like it and I am glad to have it. It has been a consistent spinner since I received it. Arttie _________________ Constitutional separation of church and state is a lie; it is a figment of the secular-progressive's imagination.

| I have spun it awhile now and while it has gotten better after several listens the vocals dont give me the Saint feeling like In the Battle did. When you spun that cd the first time it was like talking to a long lost friend again - you just pick up where you left off. Its a great thing for bands to mature and develop - but what makes Saint special to me is heavy music, great lyrics and the vocals. I feel that CSE has 2 of the three. CSE is ok after several listens but it doesnt have all the qualities that make it a Saint cd. I am a huge Saint fan but I will be checking to see who is doing the vocals next time.... Alex |

| I've yet to hear it, that was not my point, Josh has been the main vocalist for Saint, part of the trademark sound. Having him only sing three songs makes about as much sence as Rob Halford giving up the lion's share of the vocal duties to Glenn Tipton! |

| Ult said: | Quote: | So did Peter Criss sing guest vocals on Kiss' albums? Was Ace the guest vocalist on "Love Gun"? Did John Lennon sing guest vocals on the Beatles records? Did Guy Ritter sing guest vocals on Tourniquet's albums? Richard Lynch and Josh Kramer share lead vocal duties. Lots of bands do that. Rich does a good job. There are a couple songs I would have swore he was Josh, while a couple of others I would have liked to have actually had Josh on them. Either way, it's still Saint and it still rocks!
