Got his disc at the end of last week. Stellar disc! I like this even better than "The Mark"! If you're a fan of pure, unadulterated heavy metal, you'll LOVE this disc!

I received my copy last night. Listened to most of it. Doesn't sound
like Josh Kramer is singing all the songs. Sounds like Saint were
purposely trying for a heavier sound this time around. The vocals seem
a bit buried, but otherwise, I liked what I heard.

And so I have. I keep muttering under my breath or in my head "Crime Scene Earth!!"

They are so 80's, but I love it. Even the production doesn't really bother me.

What about their back catalogue? The 4 cd "collection" - is that good?

OK you guys busted me. On the CD credits you'll notice that I am not doing just background vocals and
most of you may have noticed that Josh sang on 3 songs. Don't confuse this with Josh leaving or quitting
the band he hasn't. We're just going for a heavier sound.

HA! I called it.

Which three songs did Josh sing on?

PS. LOVE the Judas Priest cover. Great choice.

Going for a heavier sound doesn't really require a change in vocalist. Josh is more than capable of being gruffer if need be. But, for some of us, we prefer the less gruff vocals of the three songs Josh sang on.

There is an old saying that Saint should be applying to future albums: if it ain't broke; don't fix it. If Josh is the singer, then let him sing. The fans love Saint the way they are--there is no need for a heavier sound to keep us happy. Besides, since you don't sound like Demon Hunter or 3 Doors Down, you're not really going to pick up a younger audience by going for a heavier vocal sound. What you might do is alienate a faithful part of your fanbase.

The more I hear, the more I love this disc! The Priest cover is killer!

Favorite Saint, in order...

1. Too Late For Living
2. Warriors Of The Son (re-recording)
3. In The Battle
4. Times End
5. The Mark
6. Crime Scene Earth
7. Warriors Of The Son (original)

...but being #7 on this list is NOT a bad thing. I just love the Saint catalog!!!!!

Arttie

Who said they were "Going for a heavier sound" to please the fans?
Perhaps they just wanted to go for a heavier sound just because they
wanted to and for no other reason.

I'm with alldat. I'm skipping this Saint record because I don't like the vocals. Heavier music is fine, but I love Josh's singing. Testament's stuff in the 80's was heavy as stink, but had good understandable vocals. Ditto with Metallica. It is entirely possible to get heavier without losing the vocals.

I also recognize that Saint isn't "mine". So if this is what they want to be, more power to 'em. So long as they understand that they are alienating a portion of their fan base.
