PostSubject: Question about the Famine   Mon Jun 29, 2009 4:03 pm

Direct quote from metal-archives:
Quote:
Contrary to what everyone may believe this band is NOT a Christian band.

Anyone know where they got this conclusion? or is it jsut a bunch of bias crap? I went ahead and put Christianity in their lyrical themes anyway.

Here's info from their Wikipedia page:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Famine

According to this page, they're a "Christian band."

Wherever the phrase "Christian band" is found, trouble follows closely behind.

Personally, I've gotten to the point where the whole "are they/aren't they" debate is just.....irksome. I mean, Tom Araya professes to be Catholic, and the DID write a song called "Jesus Saves"....So I guess Slayer has to qualify as a "christian band", right?

Well, I like early Trouble so that's ok.

GW -- I've started using the phrase "Christ-influenced." It works very nicely in my own mind, but of course isn't really any better in talking with others.

Razz

Yeah.....I can see how that is not any better with others. Wink

That said.....that's not bad. It has a nice ring to it......and I know what it says because you've placed it in context. Twisted Evil

"Christ-influenced." = Praying

Yeah, I've been using "faith-based" but perhaps that's a bit of a stretch for some. Of course, that is fairly broad for me - if the lyricist and/or the band as a whole share a Christian faith & that faith shines through in the lyrics, even if it's subtle, I consider it to be at least partially "faith-based". But again, my definition doesn't set well w/ everyone.

Well, your definition SUCKS!

Just kiddin' MetalFro - I give mucho credence to your opinions, even if I don't agree with 'em all the time. Come to think of it, I think I DO agree with you most of the time. Oh well.
