I think that cover art is quite cool...very arty and tastefully done.

I'll find out later today if it's the same remix from the boxset or the original mix remastered.

If it's the same mix then they're probably putting it out to try to sell to folks who don't want to fork over the cash for the full box set.

Anyway...I'll report back what I find out later today.

I got the box set for cheap... like $13 bucks or something. Seems like kind of an odd move to me.

Yeah, it's a bit arty but I'm with Cliffy on this one - I think the cover is quite cool.

That cover art is HORRID!

It's so bland and generic....i'm sure to appeal to the newer crowd that likes "artsy" stuff like that. I'll stick with my original.

I wondered this as well, though they probably wanted people to purchase the boxset over a straight re-issue. Think of it the other way around. You buy the "Pillars" re-issue, then 3 months later a boxset comes out with all the Crucified material remastered and repackaged - wouldn't you feel a little burned by that, when you could have paid $5 more for everything? I sure would. So this makes more sense than doing it the other way around, from that perspective. For folks happy w/ the T&N re-issue of the S/T and "Nailed/Take Up Your Cross", if all they were looking for was "Pillars" they might not have wanted to buy the boxset. This is a good alternative for them.

As a collector, of course, I'm now obligated to add this separate re-issue to my collection Razz

Here's hoping the boxset & separate re-issue will devalue the Ocean original so I can pick up a copy at a reasonable price!

Pillars sounds fine on the box set. No need to get this reissue unless you're an avid collector.

And for what it's worth, I thought the original cover art was pretty lame. Stone me if you must. No strong feelings one way or the other on the new art.

I wouldnt say the new art is bad...but the original is WAY WAY better. I'm sticking with my original.

Just heard back from Jim at Tooth & Nail...this is the same remix from the box set. They're putting it out separately like this for those who don't feel the need to get the box, but would still want Pillars.

The original album cover was one of my favorites because it was so different. But I dig the new one a lot as well.
