That is a fantastic piece of cover art man!
I've only heard Primitive Rhythm Machine by these guys, and while I respect their standing in the Christian metal world, that album was a bit 2nd rate I felt. Certainly nowhere near the standard required for a killer death metal record.
Hope the new one is good!!

Primitive Rhythm Machine was not really death metal. The band had moved away from death metal by this point. I will agree that the recording is a bit weak on this one, but I think the songs are quite good. As a matter of fact, we recorded a cover of "Gut Wrench" from this album for our new CD.

I actually rather liked the stark, stripped-down feel of the production on PRM - it's part of what gives that album its "charm". But yeah, the sort of gut-level thrash was in full force on that album, to great effect Very Happy

I'm gonna order it. And not because I was guilted into it, but because I like what I have heard so far off the album. People paying for music because they like it, and because they want to support the band; there's a novel idea. I'm also gonna pray for Steve. No doubt in my mind (what's left of it) that it's the enemy putting some of this crap in his head. And none of us are immune to it.

6:10 Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his
might.
6:11 Put on the whole armor of God, that ye may be able to stand
against the wiles of the devil.
6:12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against
principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of
this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.
6:13 Wherefore take unto you the whole armor of God, that ye may be
able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.
6:14 Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having
on the breastplate of righteousness;
6:15 And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace;
6:16 Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to
quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.
6:17 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which
is the word of God:
6:18 Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and
watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all
saints;
6:19 And for me, that utterance may be given unto me, that I may open
my mouth boldly, to make known the mystery of the gospel,
6:20 For which I am an ambassador in bonds: that therein I may speak
boldly, as I ought to speak.

If you are going to complain about something, please also bring a solution to the problem so that people don't think you just complain. First, let me complain...

Honestly, I think he should have called it quits after Relentless or something because since then the music has gone down hill. I am not the only one who feels this way. The riffs are too simple, and the vocals have lost it's feel. This could have to do with Steve's medical condition making him weak. It just seems like his adrenaline is gone. There is no bashing here, just stating the plain facts. I'm sure Steve knows this very well but feels he can still play metal. Fair enough, no one is stopping him and I hope he plays until the day he dies. I just feel like it will never be the same.

My solution:

If he does another album, honestly I think he should focus on strengthening his vocal chords and hiring someone else to write the music. Honestly, if he did this, I bet it would be the best album since PMA. Because his style has gone old, IMHO, and he needs something fresh. Just a little bit more technicality and even some melodicness goes a long way.

The thing is, I'm not saying the music is "bad" inherently. It's just not for everyone. Some people love simple metal. Some of us are into progressive/technical/melodic metal. I bet most of you who don't like it are. Mortification is something I play when I'm in the mood for some death or thrash metal. But if I want some true substance, I will pop in Theocracy, Sacred Warrior, Deliverance, Tourniquet, etc. So, yeah.
