Pretty cool that they plugged us. Not sure why they felt the need to push the whole "Christian metal" thing though. This is a collection of metal covers. Not exactly an exclusively "Christian" thing.

BAH!
...it's in case anyone who's allergic to Christian bands (or Christians in general), Blabbermouth has their hind-ends covered in case someone buys your album and breaks out in hives or something...

They always do that. Rolling Eyes

We've even requested that they don't when we send in press releases, but they do anyway. I think they like the controversy it brings.

Partly because it's blabbermouth and partly because once labeled christian it's all they know.

This is how the press release was sent to them:
Quote:
New Mexico based thrashers Ultimatum are set to release their fifth full length album. The CD will be titled "Lex Metalis", which roughly translates to "The Law of Metal". The CD will feature 13 songs paying tribute to some of the bands influences including:

1. Ton Of Bricks (Metal Church)
2. Locked In Chains (The Moshketeers)
3. Sin After Sin (Twisted Sister)
4. Creeping Death (Metallica)
5. Denim And Leather (Saxon)
6. Gut Wrench (Mortification)
7. Motopsycho (Megadeth)
8. Metal Health (Quiet Riot)
9. Steeler (Judas Priest)
10. Iron Fist (Motorhead)
11. Can't Get Out (Vengeance Rising)
12. Wrathchild (Iron Maiden)
13. Powersurge (Overkill)

"Lex Metalis" was recorded the album at Sight 16 Studios with producer Ysidro Garcia, who also produced their 2007 release "Into the Pit". The album is scheduled to be released July 21st on Retroactive Records (through Brutal Planet Distribution).

No where in the press release did it say anything about Christian metal nor did it say anything about where that video was recorded.

Nothing like stirring the pot, eh?

Still, if it sells a few more cds....

I think you're right - they seem to enjoy ruffling the proverbial metalhead feathers, since nearly ANY post having to do with "Christian" metal usually has several comments underneath about how much Christian metal sucks, or some such.

"I am guessing since all other avenues have failed for this band, they decided to put out a CD of covers. Smart move, can't get noticed for the wannabe thrash they play, so do a CD of well known covers. Might as well since they have ripped off bands previously, using song titles for their own albums and songs. Into the Pit? No, they didn't steal that one, they thought it up themselves. PASS."

What a loser. Ultimatum rawks.

BAH!
...while doing my brief stint at a college radio station, a friend and I had a Christian rock/metal show every Sunday night (I handled the metal side, natch), and always without fail someone would call requesting something from the regular rotation stack, thinking this was the regular music played, and after we told 'em this was the two-hour Christian show, the question "When are you gonna play the real music, then?" always came up...as opposed to the "fake" music we were playing... Rolling Eyes

...then there was that time, many years ago, when I was at a local juice bar-type poolhall that was a popular hangout for local young metalheads in the early 90s, I popped in the self-titled Mortification album, and while parusing around, I saw someone massively enjoying the album (metal horns, headbanging and everything). Told him that it was a Christian band playing, and suddenly the guy was spitting venom, saying it sucked and indicated that he would like to crush the tape and put it to an open flame....

...yeah...often times, metalheads amuse me...just read some of the stuff on Ult's Hall Of Shame, there...
