I really liked ZADOK's poll about the favorite release of 1990. For me, 1990 was the defining year in Christian metal because of becoming a Christian and discovering Christian metal. The next several years, I'd say 1990 to 1994, were the epitome of Christian metal. While there has been some great stuff since then, those years have some of the best Christian metal releases ever. I've got a solid selection to choose from for each year, and I hope to do a poll for each of those years (except for 1990, which ZADOK took care of), depending on the daily max for polls. This isn't to detract from ZADOK's poll either, so ZADOK, I hope it doesn't come across that way.

Anyway, take your pick from 1991. Some of these slide a bit more into the rock category (Ken Tamplin, REZ, Novella), but still fit in general. I didn't include best-of collections or indies. Titles I left off to stick with the 20 choice limit include:

Dreamer - Full Metal Racket
Ezra - The Key
Lanny Cordola - Electric Warrior/Acoustic Saint
Love Life - Good Bye Lady Jane
Randy Rose - Sacrificium
Shadow Wings - Carry On
Traxter - Rock 'N Race

There were others that were more AOR in nature that I left off, too.

-------------

As for me, my top pick is Tourniquet - Psycho Surgery.

Rez and Haven were strong contenders for me, but I ended up voting for Kinetic Faith. Kind of a transitional album between Bride's pure metal (no pun intended) sound and their more stripped down southern hard rock sound, with an awesome mix of both. Twisted Evil

REZ was a big one for me, too. I cut my teeth on Resurrection Band with that CD, and I was blown away by it. As far as their harder edged years go, that one is my favorite by a mile, and I still love playing that one. Although I group it in with rock and not metal in my mp3 library, I had to include it in the list. I just had to. Very Happy

I'm glad you did. It belongs there, IMO. Twisted Evil

I'm gonna take Whitecross on this one. If not for the rap vocals, that would be a perfect CD. Love every song on it. Would have loved one song MORE without the rap vocals!

Had to be Tourniquet, for me. By far the most original band in early 90's Christian metal.

This one is virtually impossible for me to vote. Siloam, REZ, Novella, and Sacred Warrior are all in a literal dead heat for me. I play all four of those on a pretty regular basis.

I didn't vote. There are just too many great albums there. It depends on what day of the week, or even what time of day, and one album could be more favorite than another. Good grief...1991 was a MONSTER year for Christian metal!

Tourniquet and Living Sacrifice only make this all the more impossible for me....
