| That's cool but Morty's so far ahead of those other bands, though they maybe they'd learn from Morty. _________________ Alldat: I take a bath every Saturday night whether I need it or not. |

| I had a few reasons for doing it this way. I know I could have went with other choices, if I wanted to really DREAM, but I wanted to help plug Mort to a new generation. I also really like the energy that OTS and the SD have, but I think they don't get enough respect with more seasoned Metal Maniacs. The final reason for this show was because this show actually came close to becoming reality last Summer, but as usual, the funding was just not there.. But I was in conversation with each band and they were all game if we could make it happen.
One day perhaps I will make enough money to do an Armor Fest the way I would like to..
For now, at least it makes for decent radio. I wanted to go for a "King Biscuit Flour Hour" type show on steroids! _________________

I think this would have been an awesome show! 2 Up And Coming bands with a Christian Metal Legend. That is what SUCKS about the MUISIC industry, it is SO "Flavor Of the Week". The Showdown is really growing in popularity after Ozz Fest last year. Mort would probably have to open for them after too long.. This is the The Showdown's time and Mort has struggled in recent years. But back in their Hay Day, they were a FORCE TO BE REKON WITH! (not that they aren't still good now)
The cool thing is that Eric (The Showdown) and Ryan (OTS) have heard this show and both LOVED IT! Haven't asked Steve About it yet though.. I am emailing him today about it.. _________________

No "joke" needed. Steve and MORTIFICATION is. _________________ "The 'farce' is strong with Obama-Wan." words of Scourge.

| I guess it depends on ones point of view.. Not to get too philosophical but, music is supposed to a form of human expression, isn't it? Not competition right? Did I miss something? lol
I LOVE MORT! But I also love the guys from OTS & SD too. And I love their music. It was not meant to be a competition between bands, but an allience against evil. I think they all compliment each other.
I get tired of the "Battle Of the Bands" mentality in music. I am an advocate of coalition. _________________

| You're probably right about Mort opening for The Showdown soon. I like them but I notice Christian music has no sense of history and with the catalog Mort has they should get way more respect. Like you say, flavor of the week. _________________ Alldat: I take a bath every Saturday night whether I need it or not. |

Nope. Dang straight skippy. I have so much respect for Steve and even though many pan a lot of their newer stuff I enjoy a lot of it. I think ETG is a classic thrash album too. _________________ Alldat: I take a bath every Saturday night whether I need it or not. |

| No offense because I do love Steve Rowe as a person but... Mortification as a band is a total joke. They gave Christian metal a very bad name in the late 90's and they continue to do so. I remember my secular friends literally laughing at the Mort music I would play them and then they would bust out some Amorphis, Morbid Angel, Nile or Monstrosity. I could always take pride in playing them my copy of "Nonexistent" by Living Sacrifice or my "Extraction" cd from Believer though! _________________ "It is better to be hated for what you are than loved for what you are not." |

| Dude, that is the honest to God truth. Try playing some late 90's mortification (Triumph Of Mercy, Hammer of God, Silver Chord, etc..) to secular death metal fans. The lyrics go far beyond cheesy (Noah was knower????) and the vocals are literally the worst in death metal history. I give credit where it's due. They did some pretty good stuff on "Scrolls" and I believe there are other Christian death metal bands who are amazing but Morty stunk pretty badly. I am surprised you don't see that. Most Christian metal diehards admit at least that much. _________________ "It is better to be hated for what you are than loved for what you are not." |

| Mort are a little hit and miss with me but I never thought of them as a joke. To me bands like Bride, One Bad Pig and Ransom gave christian metal a bad rap. _________________

Beleive me.. I have the deepest love for Steve and Mort. I have done 3 Mort shows. 2 in 98' and one in 2000. Steve was still very unsteady than and could not play too late into the evening, so other bands had to play afterwards. Jacobs Dream, Bio-Genesis, Rackets & Drapes, Nassusus, Wrench & Vessel were some of the bands they played with. I love Steve like a brother.. So I did not mean to cheapen Mort with this line up. I meant to honor them.
But I do love the other bands too! I hoped to introduce Mort to a younger generation. I almost went the other way, and put The SD as a headliner because they are HOT right now, but I couldn't.. Besides that recording from The Black Stump Festival on Live Planetarium is just too awesome!! What a stellar show! I try to establish and preserve the History!

But remeber this line up was going to be an allience, not competition. Watch the NBA playoffs if you want competition, aye?
I remember some of my old friends complaining about Metallica when they used to open for Ozzy.. Also some who came only for Metallica and left.. I don;t get it. I loved the WHOLE SHOW! lol _________________

| Technically, all that needs to be done to give Christian metal a bad name among the knuckle-dragging neo-Nietzche metal crowd is that it be Christian metal, heh. So regardless of whether the later Mort stuff is that great (I don't think it is), who cares what people think? They'll complain about anything. Even if the review is technically a good one, they'll still make some pathetic sounding whining about the Christian lyrical themes and warning all the big strong metal fans that they may not be able to handle listening to the record. Christian reviews sometimes do little warning things about some secular albums, but in contrast, what's so horrible about Christ? Yep.. _________________ Dark motions, black eyes, and mournful lust, the wings of solitude ...I'm the hateful raven

"Secular death metal fans", I hate these lables! I've played ToM for a friend of mine who is not a christian, like me he is a metal fan, he liked it. ToM happens to be my favorite Mort LP, Steve has said he never wanted Mort to be labled a death metal band, he didn't want to be piogen holed in any genre. As far as cheese goes, there will never be a shortage of that in metal, christian or not!
