| BAH! ...I would encourage you to go to the Flaming Fish website, go to the links page, and start sampling, see what trips your fancy...also, there's some full-length albums available for download (legal, too), so have fun (I know I do)... _________________ |

Oh man, I can't believe I forgot that one! One of my favorite albums ever. But it doesn't sound anything like Fear Factory. Still very good metallic industrial, though. |

Very interesting sound. Have you considered juxtaposing the melodic singing with some processed angry Skinny Puppy-type vox and maybe throwing in a few samples? That would be interesting to hear. |

I've got a Fathom CD-R...I can't even find the original "Nu En Jin" pressing online...just a CD-R on amazon. _________________ "He had discovered Time and Death and God"-Aldous Huxley

The preaching samples ruined that CD for me, personally. Our magazine reviewed it a few years ago. The review was way too positive. When you're reviewing indie stuff, I'm convinced you have to be more brutally honest. I'm not saying trash it, but offer constructive criticism where the band can improve. Indie bands need that. I grow tired of the 'talking on the telephone' vocal distortion, which has been greatly overused in Christian industrial. That's why I still despise Circle of Dust '92. A voice like that of Klay Scott or Jyro Xhan (Mortal) is simply too good to bury under so much distortion that it's unrecognizable. Skinny Puppy uses much more diverse vocal distortion than that. I wish more Christian Industrial bands would learn from other bands in that area, globalwavesystem certainly has. So many are still using software and gear from the 1990's and their music sounds like it. I'm thankful that the newer acts are drawing from other influences than Nine Inch Nails and Ministry at least. The specters of both Al Jouregenson & Trent Reznor reared their heads far too much on most of the major label Christian Industrial albums in the 1990's At least globalwavesystem & X-Propagation tried to steer clear of the 'mainstream' Industrial bands for influence. If Generation, Under Midnight, COD, & Mortal had attempted to blend the 'mainstream' sound with other lesser known influences such as Front Line Assembly, Cyberactif or Die Krupps, I think their releases could've been even better and successfully brought something innovative to the table. |

| BAH! ...personally, if I can find a Christian group or artist that can pull off the aggrotech style -- like Psychlon Nine or Hocico -- that would be totally AWESOME... _________________ |

I heart Mortal. Fathom and Lusis rule. |
It amazes me how most Mortal fans only like their first two albums, and a scant few like Nu-En-Jin. Nu-En-Jin would've been EXPONENTIALLY better had the band worked with Christian Erickson of globalwavesystem instead of Joey Belville of the Echoing Green. globalwavesystem's Life Equals Death is SOOO much better in every conceivable way if you like that approach to Industrial. |
While Fathom and Lusis are exemplary, Nu-En-Jin, Pura, Wake, the self-titled, and Godspeed likewise are the shibby. I even picked up Fold Zandura and Juggernautz. While not as good as their Mortal works, they still find their way into my music rotation. |
