| OK, I know there are a couple other Believer threads floating around, but now that the album is actually out I thought we could discuss it in a new thread. Mods can combine this if they want. Just got the new CD and I'm on track 4 right now. So far, so good. Songs are excellent. You will know that you're listening to Believer when you hear it. They haven't morphed into an entirely new band during their hiatus. The production is a little rawer than the sound on Dimensions. It's not bad by any means, but it gives the tunes a little more of an "old school" feel. Some have asked about the lyrics. Most are obscure and could be understood in a variety of ways. There is no mention of "God" or "Jesus" on the album or in the credits that I noticed (not that I myself care). But some of the lyrics seem to be speaking about God. The song "Redshift" might be taken to be talking about those who refuse to acknowledge scientific evidence for a creator. There are 10 tracks listed on the CD, but there are 13 tracks total. The final 3 tracks are two samples and a jazzy instrumental with weird effects and whatnot. The total CD comes in at just under 61 minutes.

| Very cool! Is the production more like Extraction, then? Hope mine is in the mail today... Arttie _________________ Constitutional separation of church and state is a lie; it is a figment of the secular-progressive's imagination.

Ummm, not really. Gabriel has more bass than Extraction, and the guitars have more low end as well. Maybe it's the drums that give this new one more of a raw feel.
I just finished listening to the whole thing for the first time, but Joey seems to have some different playing styles on this album compared to previous ones.
One more thing... "Nonsense Mediated Decay" is an instrumental filled with different spoken word samples. One of them seems to be about a guy telling of an encounter with aliens that he says was like being touched by "the hand of God."
Again, I've only listened once, so I reserve the right to be wrong and to revise everything I've said. LOL... |

| Track 11 is 30 seconds long and sounds like a voice mail about a circus coming to town. Track 12 is 20 seconds and is just some samples, I seem to remember. Track 13 was a full track (maybe 5 minutes). It was like a jazz instrumental piece. I thought it was cool. I'm going by memory on those three, but I think that was about right. |

| The lyrics are not as "up-front" as in previous releases, but two of the tracks are from God's POV to the listener. |

| Mine was shipped on March 12th, but haven't received it yet. So much for pre-orders. Got sucked in on the shirt deal though. |

| I got a slip tonight that I have a package waiting at the PO. I'm excited. And I asked John about his spoken word pieces. He said: | Quote: | They wanted me to come up with "something to do with aliens" but not typical....and being as I know they're faith and all I tried something unique and they loved it....I dig it too....Just a dialogue in the first bit...
then loops of me and my son reading random lines of poetry over the remainder of the track. |

| How are the vocals on this one? I like the vocals on the first album the best but the other albums.....the vocals tend to grate on my nerves after a couple of songs. |

| Personally, I like the vocals on the new one. They're a little different than the old stuff, less "strained." |

| Less strained is a good description. You can still tell its Kurt, but he's not quite as...ummm...raspy or harsh sounding. I'll be honest...the first two hidden tracks are annoying! LOL! After three spins, I can say I think this is a VERY solid return and should be well received by the metal community in general. Excellent comeback, although time will tell how it fits into the catalog rankings for me. | I bought this yesterday. Listened to it once in the car this morning. I liked it, but I'm going to need repeat listens to fully digest it. |

| I pre-ordered it, as well, and haven't gotten mine yet. Shipped on March 12, like Lanch's, but maybe it will be in today! Woohoo! I'm still glad I pre-ordered, though, even though I saw the CD in a store a couple of days ago. I did the t-shirt/CD package, so it's worth it to me to wait a few extra days. |

| Love the song "The Brave" with Howard Jones (Killswtich Engage) on it! I also didn't realize that the song "Focused Leathality" had Rocky Gray (Living Sacrifice & Soul Embraced) doing a guitar solo on it!! SWEET! My official thoughts on the album are: | Kuba wrote: | "Believer - Gabriel is yet another epic masterpiece of carnage form these Progressive Metal Pioneers! MIND BLOWN! End transmission..."
