| Does anyone remember them?? they put out a demo back in 94 called fight the devil........ Well they are back very their debut full length cd called Omega. Here is the blog..... The long awaited full length debut from this enigmatic band features innovative effects, sparkling musicianship, and elaborate soundscapes and runs just over an hour in length. The disc takes the band in a much darker and more aggressive direction, featuring extensive soundscapes developed with award-winning Sound Designer Karen Vassar over a solid collection of spiritually and socially charged songs. Featured on the album is the haunting For the Least of My Brothers, a song the band penned to try to help raise awareness of the growing problem of homelessness, and to raise donations for legendary Pastor Bob Beeman's homeless ministry, thebridgebunch.com. Beeman also contributed to the CD's liner notes, saying, "I am excited about Angelrage. These guys rock! Not only are their lyrics scripturally based and thought provoking, but their music is outrageous! You will love these guys!" The band have reinvented themselves for this album as creepy stone angels, cracked and covered in moss, and the stageshow features a graveyard set with large Celtic crosses and gargoyles, lit with eerie hues of green. With the release of Angelrage, the band is ready to live up to their tagline: "The soundtrack of the apocalypse." Check them out at www.angelrage.com |

| I remember that song, you used to be able to get it from MP3.com (back in the day). Wondered what ever happened to them. From their website/band logo it looks like they switched to black metal. _________________ -- Peace, that brief moment in history when everyone stops to reload. |

| They're not bad. I'm listening to them on their myspace right now. Kind of a classic metal/black metal hybrid, or something. Upon first openings of the song 'Angelrage', I wasn't real impressed, but it grew on me pretty quick. I like the song structuring. Lots of classic metal riffing style. They maybe could work on the mix a little, but it's not terrible. I'd like to pick this up, soon. Good stuff! _________________ _________________

| The music is interesting. Lots of different metal genres fused together. The fake hype and cheesy band products (shoes, mouse pads, snowboards?) on their site and myspace are a big turn-off, though. It's so over-the-top shallow and obviously false (a dozen people have probably heard of this band, and they act like they're world-famous already). |

| I actually liked the "Fight the Devil" song several years ago when I first heard it. Kind of a "campy" "cheesy" 80's sounding metal, but still enjoyable. Not really digging any of their other stuff though. And I agree their "hype" seems very exaggerated. As can be attested to by their low "listen numbers" on their myspace page. _________________ -- Peace, that brief moment in history when everyone stops to reload. |

| hi, Garland triest from Angelrage has asked me to post this reply. " I don't mind it at all when people say my band is cheesy, everyone has different likes and dislikes. It doesn't pay to get offended at something like that. But there are a couple of things I need to clear up here. Angelrage is known worldwide, the fact that this thread was started by a guy from Northern Ireland illustrates that pretty well. We have been interviewed by publications from New Zealand , Germany, The UK, and Australia, including the recently publishes book The Spiritual Significance of Music by Justin St. Vincent. Our website is visited by every internet-capable country in the world. Are we huge? Not at all, but we are known worldwide. The band was dormant for several years because of a car accident I had that disabled me for 3 years. I had brain damage and had to learn how to play guitar all over again. Fight the Devil was just a demo, but that demo charted on MP3.com higher than current singles by Michael Sweet, Bride, and King's X. Not bad for a hissy 4 track demo tape. The new CD Omega is the first official Angelrage release. I would just as soon forget all about Fight the Devil to be honest. Now, about the merchandise. I totally agree, I myself was very turned off at one of my favorite bands, KISS, when they started putting their names on products up to and including a casket. But you guys have to understand, this is an age when most people don't buy music, they steal it online and share it with their friends, so a band is left no choice but to try and sell as much swag as possible, because their is no money in the music anymore. Do you have any idea what it costs to have equipment to do shows and to record an album? What it costs to trademark your band name and defend it legally? I have rent to pay just like you and a family to feed. So if I have to smurf-for-hire myself in your eyes by selling Angelrage skateboards and mousepads, you'd damn well better believe I am going to do it. My children mean the world to me. Lastly, the mp3s on myspace have been updated as the songs changed during the recording process, and recently replaced with the finished versions, thus the low numbers. The songs have been heard thousands of times, but these new versions have not. So it was not Angelrage, but the numbers themselves and your interpretation of them that deceived you. Anyway, like I said, I know our music isn't for everyone, but I think if you give it a chance you will find something there to like. I hope so. If not, there are plenty of other bands out there to enjoy, and that's what it's all about, to have a good time. Thanks for reading this. Best wishes to you all. \m/ Gar" |

That seems reasonable, and I stand corrected. Still not digging their newest musical direction though I wish the best for them._________________ -- Peace, that brief moment in history when everyone stops to reload. |

| Tell Garland thanks for the reply, and info. For the record, I did find the music interesting. Not bad or cheesy at all. It was the Hollywood marketing that undermined it for me. I live in LA so I know all about that mindset. I'll bet it's a wife or a manager or someone not in the band who convinced them to make all those irrelevant branded products. I'm sure they have the band's best financial interests at heart, but it's misguided. I understand needing to make money, but that's a dumb way for a band to do it unless they already have millions of fans who will buy all sorts of random crap from them. How much money is an underground band really going to make selling mousepads? A few dozen dollars? A few hundred? Hardly worth the effort and the tarnishing of your band's credibility. I still maintain it's a bad move artistically and financially. Shooting yourself in the foot before you even get started. They should spend that money marketing themselves, playing shows, recording more music. Sell their music, not random trash with their name on it. Just some opinions. I wish them all the luck in the world. |

It doesn't tarnish their credibility in my view. I think it's kind of cool when bands sell outside-the-norm merch like that.
Whether or not it's financially wise is another thing. If they have the backup to do it, then that's fine, but if they go in the hole from it, then it's unwise. _________________ _________________
