PostSubject: An appeal to Retroative records   Tue Nov 03, 2009 7:33 pm

Now that Deliverance, Weapons of our Warefare, River Disturbance and Assimilation has all bene reissued and appear to be doing well, I am requesting that Retroactive Records work with Jimmy Brown and who ever else has the rights to remaster and rerelease What a Joke. I have this one on cassette and Weapons and Stay of Execution on CD and What a Joke is a hard Cd to find. I know I am just one person and What a Joke is sort of an underdog of the Deliverance back catalogue but back in the day I would stick this jem on just as much as Weapons and s/t. Anyone here agree with me?

I know you guys have other other projects under way in the planning stages. Hopefully you will consider this request.

YES! By all means Retroactive is due to reissue these 2 deliverance albums...and yes eventually even "Learn." What a Joke is another album that stands out on it's own--as well as Stay of Execution. Heck the entire Deliverance discography is all fantastic music. I would think this would be on the "to do" list between Retro and Jimmy.

Oh and as far as What a Joke being "sort of the underdog"...well, I don't think there is such thing as an underdog in the big D discography.

BAH!
...why not think bigger? Think...

BOXED SET

...eh, I can dream...but yes, a total remaster and re-release of those would be nice...

I would rather have the original Camelot In Smithereens. Not the one that the label put out but rather the one Jimmy gave to them.

Yup. I have never heard it. And I don't think Jimmy has it either. I would love to hear it.

I don't believe he has the masters. But I'll be up there next week. I'll ask him about it.

I didn't know anything about this Camelot thing. I just spun Camelot the other day....I really like that album! I wonder what is was supposed to sound like.

I, too, really like What A Joke. I like it better than Weapons.

originally, if memory serves, it was to be a full on concept piece, with soundbites and spoken parts, and an EXTREMELY detailed booklet. The label at the time felt this wasn't a good plan, and stripped away all the "extra stuff", leaving us with what we have today, which is VERY much an incomplete bastardization of Jimmy's original concept.

If it's "good" now, I think of what it was SUPPOSED to be, and just shake my head in wonderment at the sheer stupidity of the bean counters that thought they had their fingers on the pulse of D's audience better than the man himself......

I am hoping that someone from Retroactive Records/Brutal Planet Distro can shed some light as to whether What A Joke will be reissued. Matt or Cliff...are you out there...

Not to steal the big D's thunder but I think retroactive should reissue The moshketeers downward spiral cassette. That would be mega rad.

I have heard a lot about the Moshketeers, but I've never actually heard them. A re-release of their stuff might be a good idea. I know Ult's a big fan.
