PostSubject: Uplifting experience at work   Sat Oct 31, 2009 3:50 pm

As you all know from yesterday I had a VERY BAD day. I literally woke up in a bad mood. I tried not to dwell on what was bothering me but it was just so strong and as the night went on (i work night shift) I just got worse and worse. I tried reading the Bible, praying, just talking to God and I found myself cussing while I was talking to Him. Finally when the night was over I went home, didn't pray, didnt do anything. I woke the next day and tried to read, tried to pray but the anger was just through the roof. I felt like I had finally just got so burnt out that there was no turning back. For the last 4 months upon coming back to Christ I was so stressed over trying to live right and trying to be perfect and knowing the Bible front and back. I drove myself nuts. I dove in too deep.

Last night started the same way the night before did. I took my Bible to work like I had been doing but I really didnt plan on reading much. It had been 4 months sense I had quit smoking and yesterday I collapsed and bought a pack of cigs. I just couldnt calm myself down. I felt like a real failure. I smoked about 4 cigs almost one right after the other and I was really heartbroken. About the time when I was least expecting it, a light came on in my head and a small still voice said "throw out the cigerettes, you came too far to fall back." So I took one more cig out. Threw the pack in the river behind the guard shack, lit the last cig, threw out the lighter and smoked the cig so fast I made myself sick. I did that on purpose. I bit off more than I could chew doing that cause I was sick for the rest of the night almost.

But after putting out the cigerette it was like the Spirit fell on me like an atom bomb. I almost immediately calmed down and felt like everything was going to be ok no matter what. After a while I got so hyped up I just wanted to witness to someone. I wanted to do it so bad when I got home this morning I couldnt sleep. Didnt get to sleep till after 8 this morning. It was so awesome. Now today, I feel the excitement calming and of couse satan is trying to bring me down but I feel like I have WAY more power now to reject what he throws at me. Also that night he pulled the same stunt before I got excited but I just kept rejecting him and thinking about the cross and it was no time before he was gone. I had asked God beforehand to set me on fire with conviction again and it was like He took a flamethrower to me!

Again......awesome.

I can relate.......in a way. I hope i'm not stretching it too much.....I hope there is a connection in similarity......and you can see it, as I can.

I was a major drug user/dealer and had been for 7 years......I intensely loved my drugs. Well, after I heard the gospel for the first time....and ignored it--and GOD'S *still, small voice*--for several months.....I finally got interested enough to start researching Christianity (and other religions in general to compare against Christianity) and eventually got convicted enough to repent and accept CHRIST as LORD and SAVIOUR. Remember.....I loved being a druggie/dealer and thought a lot about how hard it would be to quit that lifestyle and influence......and become *straight*, as I used to call non--druggies.

I did it......became Christian. One day I was a major--league user/dealer.....the next day I was a Christian......and after that day I never felt the urge to get loaded again. Looking back on it all......wow. GOD did not want me doing that any more......and by the power and influence of HIS HOLY SPIRIT.....I did not. Never wanted to use again. Cool.

Good for you Metaller4CHRIST......good for you man. Go with GOD.

Good for you GW, but that has not been the experience for many of us, we still fight urges to indulge the flesh on many levels, including getting loaded.

I've been there too, WV. There have been times where I've been in those dark, p*ssy moods for one reason or another and the Lord has met me right where I was and took that away. The enemy loves to have us in a bad mood so he can fill our heads with all his junk, which will take our focus off of God and what He has done in our lives.

I too, have had the wonderful experiences of the Lord's Spirit filling up in me to where I feel so full of joy and want to tell the world about Christ and what He has done for me. It is a pretty awesome feeling.

Praise God for meeting you where you were at. Smile That is just like our God to do that. He knows just what we need and always comes to our rescue just in time. Our God is an awesome God!

GW.....AWESOME what God has done for you! I rejoice in how He delivered you from those urges to get loaded.

Candlemass......thanks. Thank you man. You know though Mark......we all still have weaknesses......temptations. We all have things we know GOD does not want us to do, but we struggle with.....even after becoming a Christian. Because......we are all humans with a sin nature......a nature we can still struggle with, at times. Yeah.....I quickly lost my desire to get loaded, but I struggle with other things.....yeah.

Thank you D. I am glad you rejoice.....thanks D.

I no longer have any desire for liver and onions, that was quite the struggle for a while, praise God for the victory!

Wow, that's amazing GW. I still fight the urge sometimes, I think I've only lost that battle 5 or 6 times in the last 30 years.

Good for you Bob.....ya' know 5 or 6 times in 30 years is not a lot.

Yeah Bob......it's kind of amazing when I stop to really think about it.

I loved drugs. I loved getting loaded.....to the *Nth* degree.

I made a promise to myself at age 17.....when I started down the *serious drug user/dealer path*.......I vowed that i'd never do anything that required I stick a needle in my body. Kept that promise. However, anything else was fair game. Everything else. I loved it all except speed......speed made me sick. After puking my guts out 5 or 6 times, high on speed, I decided it was not for me. Hey......after all.....only 27,000 other drugs out there for me.

However, as I said in the above post.....one day I was a non--Christian druggie/dealer, and the next day I was a straight Christian......i've never gotten loaded since March 1982.

I struggled with all sorts of unhealthy habits, but since 3 weeks ago when I signed up at LA Fitness, and got a trainer I haven't even had a stray thought about anything unhealthy.
