im am a true follower of jesus christ,and my life goal is to serve,and glorify god,and his word.but i have tese doubts in my mind that say what if im doing this for nothing sometimes,even though i believe it makes me feel worthless sometimes having these doubts,i pray to god to get those thoughts out of my head,but they keep coming back.i just tell god that i know what he's shown me,and i know he has to be real,or nothing would make sense.and i have various situations where it had to be god working in my life,but i find my self always searching for more,thinking im missing something.but i do trust in the lord,i pray all day everyday to him,and noone else,do you think maybe it's the devil trying to put those thoughts into my head?

Don't let anyone fool you, we all have doubts, from one time or another to one degree or another. The only time doubt becomes sin is if we use that doubt as an occasion to sin, to walk away from the Lord. The idea is to press on through your doubts, (I almost said break on through to the other side!), take your doubts to the Lord in prayer, like you would do if anything else is troublling you, His concern is for you.

I second C-mass on that one. I can also relate 100% to how you feel. my doubts have decreased overtime. they only come sometimes, but when they do I press on. that is how you get rid of them, is just keep pressing on and overall, staying devoted to prayer.

We all have doubts. Some days I think I've more doubt than faith. But the important part is that by the end of the day you know God is there

Here's a question. Is your belief more in your head? Or is it a matter of a changed heart? I think therein lies the answer to your question of belief.

I think most Christians experience some doubt in their walk
with the Lord. Times when you think is it all worth it. I believe you have
answered your own question. You said that there has been various situations in
your life where it had to be God working in you. This is your Faith. You know
beyond a shadow of a doubt what God has brought you through. Cling to this.
Jesus thought you were worthy enough to die for you. I encourage you to
remember the way God has been working in you and when doubt arises remember
that God is faithful to finish what He
has started.

Doubt is actually part of the FAITH process. How can you grow in FAITH if you don't have doubt?

Good posts all, I agree, doubt is human . . . doubt is expected. I think God sees our doubts and is pleased when we push past them. I think he understands when we fold to them and get discouraged.

I also believe that God reveals himself to the person who is truly seeking, and he knows the heart (if its a half-hearted seeking or a desperate determined one) He said "you will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart"

If it seems like he is hard to find, I would encourage you to keep pressing on. It could be that he wants you to prove something to your own self. Not that God plays games with us, but there is a time in all relationships for us to push past where we are comfortable to reach something deeper. He may be working that out in you.

I think you are doing the most important thing though, praying and trusting. He is there, bro. He is pushing with you . . . even if you don't see / feel / sense Him. Blessings on you head.

The Apostles even doubted Jesus, and they walked with Him as He taught and performed miracles. We are in great company, therefore.

I think it's perfectly normal to have doubts from time to time, because the enemy is always at work, trying to plant seeds of doubt in our heads.

When I find myself doubting my salvation, I look at how I used to live my life before Christ and how I live my life after Christ and realize that the way I live today is not possible without the indwelling of the Holy Spirit.

Looking at it this way usually settles the matter.

there will always be doubt. Satan will work in whatever way possible to get you to doubt, through your friends, family, lifestyle etc.

But God IS good, and God IS real and amazing!

Did Jesus get mad at Thomas for doubting the resurrection? No, he gave Thomas the proof he needed. A lot of people view God as a monarch or dictator whose ego cannot stand to be questioned. God can handle our doubts and questions and wants to prove himself to us every day. Some people say it is a sin to doubt and question God, I think not being honest with God (and ourselves) about our doubts is the sin of pride.

Want to stop doubt in you life? feed your faith. Faith comes by way of hearing and hearing comes from the word. Feed your FAITH and your doubt will starve. Glory to God!

I went through a period of time similiar to yours. I was constantly trying to find the answers to all the questions in my mind. Then I was reading the Bible one day and it came to me. "I needed to stop searching on my own understanding, I am going to let Jesus take care of it for me." Sometimes people try to do "this and that" when really the truth is that Jesus is the only one you need. For a long time I felt as if I needed to do something better, when really the answer was right in front of me. That answer was "Jesus is the Christ and he is the only way to eternal life." I think a lot of times people feel like if they don't do a lot (such as pray before eating or going to church) they are not doing the right thing. When really the only "right thing" you can do is follow the Holy Spirit and never take you eyes off Jesus. I don't even go to church anymore. I do not read any books pertaining to religion other than the Bible. I do this because I feel like Satan is everywhere now. I cannot even trust my family, only Jesus is the one who is true.

I will give you an example of this. One time I was at church. I asked a lady some question. (I cannot remember what it was exactly. It was something about how God wants everyone to be saved.) The lady answered my question incorrectly (in my opinion.) then she proceeded on to say "Do not ever think that you are waiting on God, God is waiting on you. You have to come to him." I believed this for a long period of time. Then I read the book of John. That is when the truth in Christ Jesus came to me. John 15:16 says "You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you to go and bear fruit—fruit that will last. Then the Father will give you whatever you ask in my name". This verse taught me that I did not choose God, God chose me to work according to his purpose.

Hey Fortifiv3, You say you don't attend church anymore, and you feel like satan is everywhere, and that you can't trust your family. I just want to let you know that God is everywhere to. and that he said in his word that God has not given YOU a spirit of fear but of POWER, and of LOVE, and a sound mind. Trust in God My brother. It took years of careful dissection of the Bible before I was blessed with actual faith. This story became my prayer. We are transformed by the renewing of our minds. Don't give up. Jesus did not condemn this unbelief.

Doubt is hard. Just keep telling Satan to shut his trap. He's only looking to take you to hell with him, in reality. Have faith in Christ and repent.
